Blood Secret

Lasky, Kathryn
Teenager Jerry Luna has been unable to speak since she was eight, when her mother disappeared. Since then, she’s spent time in Catholic Charities homes. When she moves to Albuquerque to live with her great-aunt Constanza, she discovers an old trunk filled with family memorabilia. The objects in the trunk "speak" to her, and Jerry learns about her ancestors, including Miriam, a Jew who lived through the Inquisition.
