Crazy Man, The
In the opening pages, Emaline loses her father, her dog and the full use of her leg in a farm accident. Through the rest of the story, she comes to terms with the realities of life on a prairie farm in the 1960's. Emaline must endure taunts from the community when they hire a man with a mental illness and rejection by her father as he ignores her attempts to contact him. Healing comes in unexpected ways for several characters.
