Half of a Yellow Sun

The novel is based on the Nigerian/Biafra war of 1967-70 when Biafra struggled to establish an independent republic in southeastern Nigeria. The novel explores the lives of a group of real and fictionalized characters from the years preceding the civil war until the end of the conflict. The characters are rich in diversity: African, European, formally educated, uneducated, urban, and rural.
