Long Way From Chicago, A

Peck, Richard
Every summer, between the years of 1929 and 1942, Joey and his sister Mary Alice go downstate from Chicago to visit their Grandma Dowdel, a larger-than-life character who seems to love to shock her grandchildren. Summers with Grandma are never dull, as this novel recounts hilarious tales of revenge and deceit performed by this vigilante who sometimes twists the truth to serve her needs and set things straight. Children will delight in the antics of this unscrupulous grandmother.
