Akulukjuk, R.; Christopher, D.
As sister and brother Kublu and Putuguq head to the seashore to meet Kublu’s friend they encounter grandfather returning from a hunt and he warns them to be careful near the shoreline as Qalupalik, a scary sea creature, is known to grab unsuspecting children. When the two arrive near the sea they see unusual footprints but not their friend! This Canadian graphic novel for early readers (K-3) is an easy-to-read version of a traditional Inuk myth, and is accompanied by simple, bright illustrations. Provides a glimpse into life in Canada’s far north and can be useful for units on myths and legends and to support reluctant readers.
