Whale Child, The

Egawa, K.
An illustrated novel with a timely and important environmental message about protecting the earth’s water, “The Whale Child” is a story about a young Coast Salish girl visited by a whale calf who teaches her about the water cycle and how water connects all living things on earth. Playful, rhythmic language pairs with colourful illustrations that evoke a clear sense of place. The story presents authentic First Peoples perspectives on the interconnectedness of living things while highlighting the small steps students can take towards positive environmental change.
