White Stag

Babieri, K.
Seventeen-year-old Janneke has lived among goblins since Lydian, a powerful goblin, massacred her village, killed her family, and captured, tortured, and raped Janneke. For the last 100 years she has been in the service of Lydian’s nephew Soren, and when the Erlking is killed goblins hunt the white stag to become the new Erlking. As Janneke joins Soren on the hunt the two develop a relationship and Janneke struggles with her identity as she sees herself becoming more goblin and less human. The novel is most appropriate for independent reading for fans of fantasy fiction. Social considerations noted. Teacher pre-reading required and proactive discussions regarding many sensitive topics recommended.
