Auschwitz Escape: The Klara Wizel Story

Naten, D.; Gifford, R.J.
This historical biography follows the journey of a young Klara Wizel during the Nazi rule in Europe. She experiences loss, starvation, and terror as readers learn the story of her experiences in the Auschwitz death camp. A survivor of a death sentence, her story is one of violence and evil, but also of hope. The novel provides the opportunity for students to have a first-hand account of the Nazi Holocaust, which lends itself well to further explorations of the dangers of extremist ideologies. It may also serve as reference material for projects on Nazism and the Holocaust, or a biography of Josef Mengele.
