Big Mooncake for Little Star, A

Lin, G.
Little Star and her mother bake a golden mooncake to celebrate a traditional festival and Mother warns Little Star not to eat any of the cake. But, when Little Star wakes up at night she thinks of the mooncake and has just a little nibble. Each subsequent night she has another nibble and as the cake begins to disappear it resembles the phases of the moon. This creative picture book, with vivid imagery and vocabulary and detailed illustrations, will capture the attention of students in PreK-5. Suitable for independent reading or read-aloud to introduce the phases of the moon and to launch discussion of folklore, stories about the sky, places, and inspirational objects, and family traditions.
