Stories For Boys Who Dare To Be Different

Brooks, B.
This engaging resource is a collection of biographies of seventy five men and boys, past and present, who are or were world leaders, athletes, anti-war activists, environmental activists, and creative artists, and includes men who are young, old, gay, of various religious affiliations, and varying races. Each brief biography is two pages, one of text and the facing page a cartoon-like image of the subject. Useful with grades 4-7 as a library resource and to support classroom material and discussions, and deals with themes of standing up for others, that masculinity can take many forms, resilience, and individuality. Some social considerations noted; pre-discussion of certain topics recommended.
