Dear Martin

Stone, N.
African-American student Justyce left his tough neighbourhood for a scholarship to an elite, white private school and has been accepted to an Ivy League College. All is going so well for Justyce when suddenly he is the victim of a white police officer’s anger and is subject to racial profiling and racism. Puzzled, he writes letters to the deceased Martin Luther King Jr to explore his teachings and deal with his own struggle. This timely novel is suitable as a class, literature circle, or independent novel, and addresses issues of racial profiling, interracial dating, affirmative action, what it means to be black, and how there is still a long way to go to achieve racial inequality in the US.
