Call of the Fiddle

Burton, W.; Patton, A.
A young boy attends a Metis Society event with his mother and grandfather and the weekend event and lessons from the elders teach him about his Metis music, culture, traditions, and history. He learns more about himself, his connection to his culture and community, and develops skills and confidence. This engaging, colourful picture book has Michif translations on each page as well as historical photos and an account of the Battle of Batoche. Suitable for K-7, the book has many classroom uses, including promoting discussions, journal writing, and art projects, using the accompanying CD to explore movement and dance, and as a supplemental resource for Metis history projects.
