Yellowhorn, E.; Lowinger, K.
This authentic and culturally sensitive resource covers human history with an Indigenous focus for Grades 4-9. Inclusive of many different North American First Peoples, information is presented in a non-stereotypical and engaging manner, with text boxes, maps, line drawings, visuals, definitions, stories, and recipes, and compelling, realistic illustrations. The last chapter discusses the present-day situation and students are encouraged to think critically. The resource has many classroom applications, including prompting further in-depth research, inquiry projects, creating timelines, art projects, and creative writing.
