As Long as the Rivers Flow

This is a quiet and powerful account of a Cree boy's life prior to residential schooling. Although this story is brief and simple, it positively and realistically portrays a Cree family's balanced life, the day-to-day routines and teachings of the family, and their strong bonds. The ending questions the imposition of residential schooling on their traditional way of life, and contains plenty of material for discussion.
