Mad Arm of the Y

Brian, an orphan in England, is tempted into following the ‘mad arm of the Y’ – that is, the path of crime. Teresa is a nice, Catholic girl who lives in Australia. Their paths eventually cross briefly, and we continue to learn about their lives as they deal with becoming adults. Harry Gentle, the ironically named bully from their orphanage days, visits Brian once again and continues to lure and intimidate him into being part of his criminal activities.
