Climate Justice in BC: Lessons for Transformation

The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives and the BC Teachers’ Federation have teamed up to create a free resource on climate justice—climate change and social justice—within the context of BC. Designed for secondary students, with material adaptable for some middle-school grades, this intuitive website includes eight modules that include lessons, handouts, videos, and activities for investigating climate justice and socio-scientific issues, including food security, transportation, waste, fracking, greenhouse gas reduction, and sustainability. In the classroom, teachers may use the resource to plan individual lessons or an entire unit to introduce climate justice concepts, while also inviting students to engage in cross-curricular discussions and providing opportunities to examine issues from alternate perspectives.
