My Blue is Happy

Young, J.
What does blue mean to you? In this engaging picture book, young readers are encouraged to think about what colours can mean to different people and learn that their interpretations are all unique. Colourful illustrations display emotions, and similes help to compare colours to something significant in their world. In the primary classroom, “My Blue is Happy” may be read aloud to invite discussions about what colours mean to each student. The book’s use of similes may also segue into writing opportunities for older students.
