Moccasin Square Gardens

Van Camp, R.
This engaging collection of ten Canadian short stories and a poem reflects aspects of First Nations culture and/or community. A variety of different, believable characters is represented, and they experience challenges First Nations people may face. The stories explore identity, acceptance, abuse, and leadership, with a common theme of identity and the importance of cultural identity on a personal and collective level. A useful resource for Grades 10-12 for literature circles or a short stories unit; individual stories could be used to support specific class themes or units.
