We are Grateful: Otsaliheliga

Sorell, T.
Throughout the seasons, the Cherokee Nation expresses their gratitude for the land, their ancestors, their way of life, and their people. Some of their key celebrations and gatherings are portrayed, as well as their connection to the land and nature, their family values and cultural pride, and the struggles they face from events such as the Trail of Tears. This brightly coloured and simply written book can be used as a read-aloud, a mentor text, to support Earth Science topics, to broaden understanding of First Peoples culture, and to encourage students to create their own similar book. Some Cree vocabulary and poetic pronunciations are included.
