Sunny G's Series of Rash Decisions

Sunny G's Series of Rash Decisions

Dhillon, N.S.
When Sikh teenager Sunny’s brother Goldy dies from alcoholism he struggles with his own identity and writes a list of rash decisions in Goldy’s journal, including shaving his beard, cutting his hair, and not wearing a turban – doing his best not to be Sikh – and attending the prom on the night of the one-year commemoration of Goldy’s death. At prom he meets Mindii, who makes her own rash decisions including stealing Sunny’s journal, and they spend a night filled with interesting and rash decisions. The novel explores bullying, racism, ableism, stereotyping, religion, identity, and loss, and can be useful for small group or individual novel study.
