The Stone Child: The Misewa Saga, Book Three

The Stone Child: The Misewa Saga, Book Three

Robertson, D.A.
The third book in the Indigenous fantasy series, the Misewa Saga, this engaging story tells the tale of two children, Morgan and Eli, who discover an alternate world populated by Cree legends and animals. When Morgan finds her foster brother nearly lifeless near the Great Tree, she springs into action with the help of some new human and animal friends, journeying into the dangerous northern woods to find Eli’s soul and save him. Suitable in an intermediate or middle-grade classroom, the novel lends itself well as a read-aloud or in literature circles to supplement a unit on the fantasy genre or Indigenous stories. Teachers may use the story to invite group discussions and highlight First Peoples cultures and traditions, particularly the Cree culture.
