Frankly in Love

Frankly in Love

Yoon, D.
Frank, a Korean American high school senior, faces a lot of cultural pressure. His parents moved to the US and work endlessly to provide a better life for their children but despite Frank’s sister succeeding academically she is disowned by her parents when she marries outside their culture. Frank doesn’t want to disappoint his parents so when he starts dating a white girl, he and a Korean girl who is secretly dating a Chinese American guy pretend to date to keep their parents happy. This engaging novel uses humour to deal with issues of family relationships, romantic relationships, cultural identity, friendship, racism, and classism.
