When 11-year-old Thebes' and 15-year-old Logan's mother is admitted to a psych-ward, their aunt Hattie comes to look after them. Hattie decides she is not suited to the job, so they pack into a van and set out to find the children's estranged father. During the journey, they face the past and come to terms with their present.
