Young Japanese Canadian Sandy loves baseball, his family, school, and playing with his friends, but when the Japanese attack Pearl Harbour Sandy's life is turned upside down. He experiences racism, his dad is sent to work in an internment camp, and shortly after the rest of the family is interred. As the family tries to come to terms with this traumatic experience, Sandy finds consolation in baseball. This engaging graphic novel deals sensitively with issues surrounding the Canadian government’s internment of Japanese Canadians.
