Goals and Rationale

Students will audition for agents and for multiple post-secondary programs with well prepared showcase materials. Students will gain tangible acting skills that make them stronger at their craft and more employable in their field. Students will understand multiple acting techniques for both live stage and filmed performance genres. Students will discover how improvisational play can help unlock improved acting performance. Big Ideas

Actors share a story or message with an audience through performance. Actors use their voice, body, and mind/imagination as performance tools. Imaginative, creative, and critical analytic teamwork is central to acting in a production. Acting is about the action, reaction, and discoveries of characters. Acting for the theatre is different from acting for film/tv, with unique requirements for both.
