Aviation 12 - Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering
In Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering students will learn about and apply the knowledge of aviation fabrication tools, techniques and procedures to repair, manufacture, inspect and test aircraft sheet metal structures, aircraft engines and avionics. Students will learn about the federally licensed trades: Avionics, Skin & Structures, and Aircraft Maintenance as well as non-licensed technician trades such as Aircraft Gas Turbine technician
Aviation 12 - Aircraft Maintenance and Engineering will: • Provide students with the understanding of the various licenced and non-licenced aviation trades • Explore a variety of career and training pathways in the sector of aerospace and aviation, currently one of the top ten sectors identified as needing skills training and development • Connect students with industry and employment opportunities, as well as further post-secondary education pathways.
Aviation is federally regulated Aviation connects communities and resources Aviation safety relies on knowledge, training, and experience Aviation tools and technologies can be adapted for specific purposes.
Aircraft Maintenance and engineering will: • teach students the skills required to scaffold experienced-based learning and problem solving both individually and collaboratively • demonstrate to students that information and learning can come from a variety of sources. • provide experiences where students build courage and learn from failures in their design work. • prepare students for the modern workforce by developing critical thinking, creativity, info literacy and communication skills
