Aviation 12 - Flight Operations

Aviation Flight Operations presents an overview of aviation fundamentals. Students will receive course credit for the Ground School component. Students will explore the world of aviation through in-class and hands-on training. Ground school time will be spent in a combination of lecture, simulation, in-class group work and field trips. Students will cover Air Law, Navigation, Meteorology, Aeronautics and Engine & Airframes.

Goals and Rationale

In Aviation 12 - Flight Operations, students will: 1. Explore a variety of career and training pathways in the sector of aerospace and aviation, currently one of the top ten sectors identified as needing skills training and development 2. Connect students with industry and employment opportunities, as well as further post-secondary education pathways.

Additional Information

Credit for Aviation Flight Operations: based on assignments, project/presentation, participation, attendance. Min of 50% in course work and PPL exam to receive credit. Weight 60%. PPL Ground School Certification: min of 60% in each of four areas: air law, navigation, meteorology & aeronautics with an overall min of 60% on final exam. Weight: 40%
