Halacha 10 is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge of Jewish laws and customs. This goal is achieved by classroom study of the Mishnah Berurah, which is a Hebrew language compilation of practical Jewish laws and customs. Consequently, students will also be able to develop their Hebrew reading and comprehension skills.

Goals and Rationale

A knowledge of practical Jewish law, or Halacha, enables students to properly participate in the traditions and obligations of the Jewish religion. The vast majority of Jewish culture is firmly rooted in Halacha, and students will be able to appreciate the foundations of the religion though gaining a broad knowledge of both the practical laws and related concepts. Judaism is a communal religion, and many obligations are rooted in Halacha.
