Build upon previous leadership experiences to help support students in their continuous development of the attitudes & skills to explore leadership opportunities beyond high school. To participate in team-building field trips & various student-initiated campaigns and/or events. The development of cooperative & collaborative skills that help students work effectively together to achieve common goals. Emphasis will be placed on service within the school & surrounding community.
Explore, identify & develop personal leadership strengths & weaknesses. Enhance personal leadership capacity by engaging in dialogue with classmates, school & community leaders. Contribute to a positive school culture. Understanding what motivates individuals. Having increased awareness of self & others. Understanding the value of accountability, personal responsibility & reflection. Apply leadership skills to practical situations. Recognizing volunteer opportunities within school & community.
Personal empowerment supports responsible decision making & self-awareness. Experiential learning & reflective practice develop leadership capacity. Actively seeking volunteer opportunities will build positive relationships with diverse people, including people from different generations.
Aboriginal Worldviews and Perspectives: To explore their own identity while recognizing the consequences of one’s actions. Leadership and learning is holistic, reflexive, reflective, experiential & relational. Learning ultimately supports the well-being of self, family, community, land, spirits & ancestors. Exploring leaders from the past will provide students with an opportunity to learn from past mistakes & help guide students in their decision-making practices.
