Learning and Living with Character
This course is intended to provide students with the foundation skills necessary to live by principles and actions that allow them to play, learn and work with character. Instruction will include an articulation of our core values of respect, responsibility, caring, teamwork, awareness and integrity. By the end of this course, students will have a clear understanding and experience the main principles of learning and living with character that are a huge part of school core values & culture
Develop an understanding of the importance of service learning in the development of strong moral character. Develop a process to plan & implement simple action plans centred around the six key aspects of character. Become active contributors to school and community through their understanding of the six key aspects of character. Actively reflect on experiences that lead to the development & refinement of character. Build interpersonal skills through the implementation of action plans.
Having good character is an important part of being a good citizen Developing lifelong positive character traits requires action and practice Service learning is important as it helps develop character and has a positive impact on community Reflecting on experiences helps one to develop character and personal identity
nstruction will include an articulation of our core values of respect, responsibility, caring, teamwork, awareness and integrity. Students receive instruction via classroom instruction, exam week workshops, guest speakers, monthly transition meetings, and field trips.Students not only learn about the principles of characters but are encouraged and supported in their practical application of those character principles through community and school service learning projects.
