Library Learning Commons Inquiry 12
Library Learning Commons Inquiry 12 provides students with the opportunity to refine their understanding of the role of the Library Learning Commons in a school setting. Through free inquiry, students will develop the skills and maturity to learn Independent Schoolly as they work towards a meaningful and unique inquiry goal. Acting as mentors in the Library Learning Commons, students will support their peers in the Library, Information and Literacy Studies 11 course.
Library Learning Commons Inquiry 12 is designed to give students learning opportunities to further develop the transliteracy skills necessary in a rapidly changing society. The course is focused on inquiry research will support students in their lifelong learning experiences.
• Learning Commons resources, services and programs, can affect the way we understand the world • The Library Learning Commons is the center of learning in a school community • Inquiry Research gives us a framework to explore our questions, curiosities, problems and meet learning goals • The Library Learning Commons promotes a culture of reading and supports this in individuals and the school community
Recommended Instructional Components: The teacher will design instructional strategies that: • acknowledge the social nature of learning; • embed formative assessment practices such as learning intentions, criteria, questions, descriptive feedback, self and peer-assessment; • provide opportunities for students to share learning and reflect; • utilize technologies and other tools in purposeful ways
