This course provides students the opportunity to strengthen their thinking, communication and personal and social competencies. It provides a setting for deeper focus on organizational, mentoring, coaching, teamwork and leadership skills. Competencies and skills are applied in a variety of settings, programs, and classes to support teachers and students. This course supports the appreciation, value and acceptance of the diverse range of learners in schools.

Goals and Rationale

Leadership, mentoring, management and organizational strategies developed in this course can be applied in a variety of contexts in and out of school. Students participating in this course build employability and life skills that promote social responsibility. Students are relied upon to assist others and to understand and appreciate the complexities and diversity in schools. It provides opportunities for students to investigate their interests in working with others.
