Perspectives Mondiales 12
Perspectives Mondiales 12 is an interdisciplinary Social Studies/Economics/ Geography/Social Justice course for Grade12 French Immersion students. The course focuses on deepening students ‘understanding of the connections & interdependencies existing between areas & societies around the world, by engaging them in critical inquiries. These inquiries are interdisciplinary & are framed by historical and geographic thinking concepts.
Four units: Actors of Globalization: Students will research the main actors of globalization. Flows of population, merchandises & transportation in a globalized world. Alternatives to our model of globalization: Students will inquire about organizations such as NGO’s & their role in influencing the decisions making process. Roles and responsibilities of the Canadian citizen: Students will reflect & propose solutions about actions that we can take to make their way of life more sustainable.
Economies, politics, societies & cultures are interconnected. Environmental issues are complex & have lasting impacts on society. Humanitarian initiatives can transform individuals & social systems. International political institutions and ideologies shape both the exercise of power & the nature of political outcomes. International political agreements require compromises between countries with a wide range of values & priorities.
Aboriginal Worldviews and Perspectives: The first People’s principle of learning states that: Learning ultimately supports the well-being of self, family, community, land, spirits & ancestors. Learning is holistic, reflexive, reflective, experiential & relational. Learning involves recognizing the consequences of one’s actions. Learning involves generational roles & responsibilities. Learning recognizes the role of indigenous knowledge. Learning is embedded in memory, history & story.
