The course is designed to help students develop skills to become successful and engaged learners and adults. It has been developed to support the needs of struggling learners who face challenges in their efforts to engage and learn in the school setting and outside community; it typically supports students who have been identified by school support teams as needing support and instruction in this area.

Recommended Instructional Components: The teacher will design instructional strategies that: • acknowledge the social nature of learning; • embed formative assessment practices such as learning intentions, criteria, questions, descriptive feedback, self and peer-assessment; • provide opportunities for students to share learning and reflect; • utilize technologies and other tools in purposeful ways
