Textiles Arts And Craft 12
To provide an expansion in both theory & practical experience in the production of textiles arts & crafts items. Students will engage with the design cycle to plan & execute the steps necessary for a wide range of textile arts & crafts that involve painting skills, creative lettering, hand sewing, decorating & embellishment techniques. Students will learn how textiles arts & crafts are used for storytelling, passing on of culture, traditions & skills across & through generations.
Textiles Arts and Crafts 12 is a hands-on, project-based course that gives students opportunities to express their skill & creativity through completion of a number of new & traditional crafts. Interactive activities between the students themselves & the sharing of their work will allow for the communication, expression & exploration of one’s unique culture, history & identity. Students will participate in activities including designing, planning & to create various textiles arts & crafts.
User needs and interests drive the design process. Active participation in the creation of textiles and craft contributes to culture, personal identity and reveals insight into the human experience. Complex tasks require different technologies and tools at different stages. Growth as a textiles and craft student is dependent on perseverance, resilience, refinement, and reflection. Refining artistic expression requires authenticity, perseverance and risk taking.

This course provides consistent opportunities for connections between students, students & their community & to the land. Exploration of identity. Engaging of empathy.
