Textiles Arts and Crafts 10
Textiles Arts & Crafts 10 is an entry level course designed to provide an overview of both theory and practical experience in the production of textiles arts & crafts items. Students will engage with the design cycle to plan & execute the steps necessary for a wide range of textile arts & crafts that involve painting skills, creative lettering, hand sewing, decorating & embellishment techniques.
Textiles Arts & Crafts 10 is a hands-on, project-based course that gives the students opportunities to express their skill & creativity through completion of a number of new & traditional crafts. Interactive activities between the students themselves & the sharing of their work will allow for the communication, expression & exploration of one’s unique culture, history & identity.
User needs & interests drive the design process. Social, ethical & sustainability considerations impact design. Complex tasks require different technologies & tools at different stages. Active participation in textiles, arts & crafts contributes to culture, personal identity & reveals insight into the human experience. Artistic expression requires authenticity, perseverance and risk taking.
Aboriginal Worldviews and Perspectives: The First Peoples Principles of Learning are inherent to the success of Textiles Arts & Crafts. This course provides consistent opportunities for connections between students, students & their community & to the land. Exploration of identity. Engaging of empathy.
