Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian, The
Heart warming, sad, often funny, this novel is a diary interspersed with drawings/cartoons supposedly created by the protagonist, Arnold, an Aboriginal boy from Spokane who decides he wants to go to school off-reserve, believing it is his only chance for success. He recounts his experiences as if they were hilarious, when in reality they are tragic but feel bearable because of the resilience and humour he needs for survival. In amongst the text are graphics that help to develop his character.
