All The Bright Places

Niven, J.
Violet tries to deal with the guilt of surviving a car accident that killed her sister. Finch struggles with his parents' divorce, his dad's re-marriage, and his father's physical abuse. When the two meet during a shared suicide attempt, they form an unlikely friendship. Finch helps Violet to come to grips with her new identity without Eleanor...and ultimately without Finch. Narration switches between Violet and Finch so both characters' journeys are explored in detail. This senior level novel, with teacher guidance, would allow for open discussions around mental illness and healthy relationships. A number of social considerations were identified.
