Aru Shah and the End of Time

Twelve-year-old Aru and her mother live above the Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture. Trying to impress her classmates, Aru lights a cursed lamp and unintentionally releases the Sleeper, a powerful demon, and freezes the world. A guardian pigeon tells her that it is up to her and her soul sister to save the world and they are thrust into a world of Hindu gods and mythical creatures filled with trickery, evil, and battles as they search for the secret to destroy the Sleeper before he awakens the Lord of Destruction to end the world. This fast-paced graphic novel about two heroes who try to fit in with their peers can be a good addition to an intermediate classroom library.
