This novel is the third and final instalment of the Atlas trilogy. When Jean’s younger brother drops the atlas, it starts to experience 'technical difficulties'. Jean travels to medieval France where he inhabits a young princess. Jean’s next stop is Expo ’67 in Montreal where he finds himself taking on the form of an old tree. Finally Jean is in an African village where he is transformed into a black panther. Jean is followed by a mysterious man who helps him escape various trials.
