Baseball Poster

Jespersen, M
This colourful laminated poster (24” x 36”) depicts a baseball field and player positions, and includes a brief description of the duties of each position, a game overview, scoring details, and other key components and facts about the game. Designed as an educational tool to foster a better understanding of baseball and its rules, the poster can be used to provide an overview of a real baseball game to secondary physical education students. The resource does have limited use for teachers, though, as in a typical physical education class smaller games are typically played using modified rules, equipment, and field size. In addition, baseball is typically not played in a high school PE setting; rather, usually softball is played. Also, the font size on the poster is quite small so it would be difficult to use as a resource with a large class, either in the gym or classroom. Instructional design is limited, suggestions are not provided for modified games, and no tools for assessment are provided.
