Beartown

Beartown – a small, isolated Swedish town – is obsessed with hockey and as their junior team gets close to the national championships, the town pins all their hopes on the team. Tensions rise in the town, secrets are revealed or threatened to be, and when the star player is accused of rape, there are consequences for everyone in town, but when justice is not done, the victim takes matters in her own hands. Useful for independent, literature circle, or whole class study, senior classes would be enriched by discussing the strong use of figurative language and description.
