Being Jazz

Jennings, J.
From a very young age, Jazz knew that she was a girl living in a boy’s body and before she started kindergarten her parents helped her articulate her identity and transition. Jazz is a powerful advocate for transgender rights, especially transgender children’s rights, and shares her story through television and interviews. Her compelling memoir chronicles her journey of self-discovery in a straight forward, often conversational, way that is accessible to all ages. The memoir could be used in a non-fiction or mixed genre literature circle or as an independent study, and excerpts could be used as case studies in PHE and Social Justice classes, and to examine SOGI policies in sport and/or society.
