Birth House, The
This novel follows Dora Rare as she matures, eventually following in the footsteps of the local midwife/herbalist. She must find her own way socially and ethically in the society of the times. A small Acadian town during the early/mid 1900s, with all its local characters, dark secrets, beliefs, folklore/traditions and social stereotypes provides the backdrop for Dora's passage into womanhood.
