Black Brother, Black Brother
Twelve-year-old Donte, a biracial boy who attends a prestigious and primarily white school, clearly sticks out and gets blamed for troubles he doesn’t start. His much lighter-skinned brother is good at sports and fits in much easier, but when he shows Donte an article about a black former fencing champion, Donte seeks him out and the man not only teaches him to excel at fencing but also life lessons about confronting bullies and believing in himself. This engaging novel deals with timely topics of diversity, racism, BLM, stereotypes, and taking action, and is suitable for literature circles, book clubs, class or school novel study, and classroom libraries.
