Book Scavenger

When twelve year old Emily and her family settle in San Francisco, home to her literary hero and author of a popular on-line book trading game, she immerses herself in a world of puzzles, codes, and ciphers. She and her new friend James use sleuthing and cleverness to traverse the city, escape danger, and discover the truth about the game. This exciting mystery for grades 4-7 could be used for lit circles, writers’ workshops, independent study, or class read aloud, and initiate discussion of friendship, nomadic families, personal safety, decision making, and how to avoid and/or escape from harmful and risky situations.
