This novel in verse focuses on a complex and intriguing teenager, Nick, who faces major challenges at home and school as his parents plan to separate, and his mother plans to move out of state. At the same time, he must cope with an emergency appendectomy and suffer bullying at school by two brothers. Finally, Nick reveals that he hates his life and wishes he was dead. The story resolves in a positive way with him getting intervention from a professional family therapist and having supportive teachers who also assist him.
