Bud Not Buddy

This is a terrific story about a boy who steals the reader's heart right from the start. Orphaned at six, with only the memories of his mother's love and a few memento's providing hints as to his father's identity and whereabouts, Buddy lives by his wits and isn't afraid to take risks to ensure his survival. He escapes from the orphanage and strikes out during the Dirty Thirties, a lone black boy looking for his family.
