Chicken Wants a Nap

Marchini, T.
It’s a beautiful, sunny day and Chicken is determined to enjoy an afternoon nap. But, first she encounters rain, then noisy cows, and smelly barns, and Chicken cannot find anywhere to settle in for her much-wanted nap. Finally, the rain stops, the worms come out, Chicken’s tummy is full and happy and it is indeed a wonderful day to be a chicken, but not a worm. Primary students will enjoy the colourful pictures, simple language, and repetitive sentence structure. Suitable as a read-aloud or classroom library book, it can encourage discussion of setting and achieving goals, dealing with disappointment, personal growth, and building confidence.
