Hoose, Phillip
This book tells the history of the Montgomery Bus Strike that took place in Alabama in the late 1950s. A young girl, Claudette Colvin, was physically removed from a bus after refusing to move out of a seat reserved for white people. She was charged with breaking the segregation laws. Later Claudette took part in a federal case that ultimately ended segregation on buses in the south.
